Your Questions Answered

Storage is a great way of creating space; you can store furniture, electrical goods, books, records, clothes, tools/ garden tools, files and overstock. We can also offer warehouse space for large scale commercial storage and secure outdoor storage for vehicles, boats, caravans and heavy plant.

There are a few items it is not permitted to store at Formal Self Storage, some are listed below but if you are in any doubt, please ask.

• Food or perishable goods
• Any living creature including plants, fish, reptiles etc
• Combustible or flammable liquids or materials including paint, petrol, solvents, chemicals, radioactive materials or biological agents Compressed gases
• Explosives, firearms, weapons, ammunition or the component parts or materials to manufacture any of these
• Any material of a potentially dangerous nature, e.g. asbestos
• Any illegal or illegally obtained item, substance or material
• Any item which emits or may emit fumes, vapour or odours
• Anything with a high value such as jewellery, fine art, cash, bullion, deeds, bonds, antiques etc for which would recommend specialist secure storage

You must consult us before storing any item or items likely to concentrate weight in a small area eg, large amounts of sales literature, magazines, books, computer paper, vinyl records, heavy machinery etc

Formal Self Storage is Flexible Safe & Secure. As your requirements change we can upgrade you to a larger unit, rent you additional space or move you to a smaller unit subject to availability. Just let us know if you would like to change the size of your unit.

The minimum period is 4 weeks (unless agreed by prior arrangement). There is no limit to length of time space can be hired.

When you rent your unit we will request your bank details so we can ask your bank to pay us monthly by Standing Order. This minimises our administration and saves you time.

We ask you to provide your own padlock, you lock it, you keep the key, you’re in control.  You can choose to leave a key in the office, otherwise you are the sole key holder.

For household or personal storage we request some form of identification such as a driving license or a recent utility bill (eg. electricity, gas or water) showing your address.  Business customers are asked to provide a company letterhead.

Formal Self Storage neither offer or charge for insurance, however it is usually easy to have your belongings covered under your household or business insurance. Please ask your insurance company for details.
